Well 'ello all!! Sorry it has been about 4 days since I posted anything, to be honest I'm kind of surprised that I am even writing this now, I am ssssooooo exhausted!! But anywho, I need to get all of this down before it forget it all completely.

So I would like to inform everybody that it has not been out of blatant laziness that I have not posted anything but half of the time I have been out of town and away from my computer. So we shall start there.....

2/9/12

The end of this week seemed to be so long! Thursday morning we all had to be up and ready to go by 8:30 so that we could load onto a bus headed to Stratford Upon Avon. We were headed here for a two day trip to see shows at the theatres there and just soak in the history of this town, as this was the town where Shakespeare was born and died. It was really an awesome time, but I wanted to sleep a good amount of the time.

When we first got there we all had a few hours to ourselves since we arrived around 11:30 and the show didn't start until 1:15. Jenna, Hannah, and I then wandered around the town a bit and found a nice little park to eat our lunch....

Aaaannnnddd then there was a couple hours of just wandering around into the small town and loosing track of where we were until we had to ask a bunch of different people for directions to the theatre and rushing to get there because we thought we were going to be late. Yea, we were about half an hour early getting there. Oh well, better too early than too late. I am sorry that I do not have any pictures of the theatre but I was freezing and did not want to take my hands out of my pockets to use my camera. But we went to see taming of the shrew, which was great but had some parts to it that I could have gone without seeing, such as the fat naked mans butt. Yea let that one burn into your mind for a minute or so.

After the first show there were another few hours to kill before the next one (yes we saw two shows in one day it was a little tiring but awesome!). Natania had informed us that we would not be having dinner together until after the show (which was about 10:30) and so some of us decided we needed to eat immediately. That was an interesting quest to find some food. Again us three girls were together on this adventure but this time we were accompanied by Alex. The first place that we found seemed promising. The menu sounded great and the prices were really good, so we entered and there we met the most exuberant man that I have ever met. He welcomed us to the shop and we all looked at each other with slightly scared looks on all of our faces as we telepathically asked each other if we thought it was safe to remain there, he kind of herded us to our table though so he really gave us no chance of escape. Once at the table we ordered some drinks and were going to attempt to order some food when he told us the cook didn't show up because it was too fricken cold outside! So we had to leave to go find something to eat but we stayed to finish our drinks first so as not to anger the overly happy man just in case he became overly crazy angry man. Lucky for us there was a panini place right across the street so we did not need to search long. Plus I stole a few sugar packets from the happy mans place so I had that to tie me over for a little bit.
Finally it was 7 and we had to go back to the theatre to see the play Heresy of Love. Oh my goodness. This was such a fantastic show!!! It took place in Mexico and it told the story of a nun who was persecuted for her writings and play by the archbishop from Spain. I am not going to get too into the story, and I know that it does not sound too exciting (to be honest I was a little pessimistic and whiney before the show but I was laughing and eventually crying my eyes out by the end) but it is soooo worth seeing if you ever have the chance. Please, for me, promise you will go see it if you ever have the chance!!
After the show the entire group headed over to the Dirty Duck for dinner, which turned out to be a huge disappointment and consisted of only chips(fries), breaded mushrooms, garlic bread, and chicken wings (which were gone so fast that I didn't even get any). The bar on the other hand was much better. The bartender had the face of a greek god that knocked the wind outta me and made me smile like an idiot and loose the ability to say anything so the only noise that came out of me was a strangled giggling sound. And I got a high five from him at one point when I went up to the bar, I don't know why but I was ordering what I think was my third Guinness so it could possibly have something to do with that.

 2/10/12
Friday was kind of a free day until we had to be back by the bus by 1:45, which didn't happen and yes you will all have the chance to hear that lovely story in a bit.

This day was spent with a bigger group than three. A majority of the upstairs family decided that we wanted to wander around and see some of the Shakespeare sites. It turns out that it costs quite a bit for a ticket to see these sites but we figured it was worth it since ACM said they would reimburse us for it. The first stop on this site seeing walk was to the birthplace of Shakespeare.

***(My computer hates me and will not let me upload pictures. I am going to try to fix this and finish my post at that time. I apologize for this unfortunate situation)***

Fixed it... I think, lets try this again!
The home Shakespeare was raised in

The floor Shakespeare walked on, and no I do not find it strange that I had to take a picture of the floor!

A Shakespearean bed

A Shakespearean dinner table

Shakespeare's father's workshop-he made gloves

Really creepy Shakespearean wall paper
We decided that going to the birthplace first was the best idea, so that we would stay in chronological order, our next stop was the guy's grave site! And yes this was the site I was more excited to see. And don't assume that it is because I am creepy and like to be around dead people, because that is only part of the reason, the other is the church! It was awesome!!
Told ya

I kind of took pictures from every angle

I would so go to church here

A little chapel off to the side

And the entrance into the chapel where Shakespeare lies

Super awesome ceilings!

And pertyful windows

Yea, see that church is magnificent!! And they give so much religious history! For instance... During the reformation, when Henry VIII split from the Catholic Church, all of the statues and carvings of saints and Jesus were knocked down and carved out to prevent idolatry and stick to a more faith based religion, and so in this church there are no statues or representations of Jesus except this area hidden from everyone except the main priest where Jesus' face is carved into the wall. Cool, right!? If that's not for you then here are some picture of some dead people.

Yay graves!! So the one that is actually Shakespeare's is the one with the warning sign written in old english warning that anyone who tries to move his bones will be cursed. Jack said that he would have still done it, I just don't want to be cursed.

After visiting the church we also went to go look at Shakespeare's sister's house, mostly because Hannah and I needed to use a bathroom and the public bathrooms around here are, well public bathroom. So here is the house we found...

I got yelled at for taking these pictures, so your welcome for breaking the rules so you could see this all!

After we saw this house Hannah, Jenna, Alyssa, and I headed out to find some lunch and found a cute little Italian place where (another shoutout to my dad) I had a pasta with a mushroom sauce. This is significant because I am the person who has always said I would never eat mushroom because they are gross and slimy and grow on poop. These ones weren't too bad though...

Next step on this exciting trip was to the bus where we all had been told several times to meet at by 1:45. Most people made it to the bus by before 1:45, most of us, three people, however, showed up 45 minutes later. That put a smile on my face and a spring in my step as this meant that our tour of Oxford would be cut short. Oxford, which is hours away from London and a place I have been waiting to go to forever. Yes, 45 minutes cut out of this tour, oh jolly good!

Anywho... while that was disappointing the day overall was awesome. And when we were done at Oxford we were finally able to come home to our flat and just relax. I watched some tv online and ignored by blog (sorry about that) and then got so much sleep. So nice!!
